Iomega 1.5TB drive offers fancy backup option

Iomega recently revealed some new eSATA desktop hard drives with a new system protection program that combines total system backups with instant system recovery. The drive catching our eye the most is the 1.5TB UltraMax Pro Desktop Hard Drive eSATA 3GBits/USB 2.0, priced at around $600.
The Iomega 1.5TB UltraMax Pro Desktop Hard Drive eSATA 3GBits/USB 2.0 features both eSATA 3GBits and USB 2.0 interfaces. The eSATA 3GBits interface is the preferred for data backup, as Iomega says it is up to six times faster than the USB 2.0 interface. This product also “features a two-drive configuration with hot-swappable SATA II hard drives that are formatted with the FAT32 file system for use in Mac or PC environments.”The new system protection program is known as Never Down. Iomega says this software lets you “run your system from your backup drive; you don’t have to interrupt your work while you wait for a PC repair.” It creates backup copies manually or through Microsoft’s Scheduled Task Wizard. You can in essence immediately reboot from the backup and continue your work.

SPECULATION is rife that legendary girl band Destiny’s Child are making a comeback. Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have reportedly been inspired by the triumphant return of the Spice Girls. Kelly was quoted on dlisted.com as saying, “This current spate of reunions has given us ideas. Despite what people say we are all still really close. A couple of weeks ago Beyonce did a show in Los Angeles and asked me and Michelle to join her on stage to sing ‘Survivor’. The emotion was incredible and it felt so good to be back up there with the girls again. It was a real tear-jerker. The fans were crying and going nuts. It was magical. Troubleshooting Windows Defender in Vista.

Cannot Update Windows Defender !?

If you ever encounter an error code (eg “error code 0×80240029 - cannot update” which btw is the most common one), when updating Defender, here is a solution which will help you. This usually happens if the distribution database is broken and needs to be re-created.

Here are the solutions to address the issue :
1) As far as Vista goes (don’t know if this applies to XP) you can do this by clicking start > all programs > windows updates> change settings > uncheck Automatic Updates, Uncheck Recommended Updates and uncheck use Microsoft Update Service. this will switch from Microsoft Update back to using Windows Update.
Reboot. If it works for you fine; you can now reset the update settings to as they were earlier.

2) I also came across this download from Microsoft (Vista/XP). This actually FORCES defender to update !

3) To manually update Windows Defender visit Microsofts Malware Protection Center for instructions.

4) Lastly if none work, there is another way you can try this:

Boot into safe mode. Find the folder named Software Distribution.

Rename SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistribution.old OR Delete all its contents (FLUSH it !) Reboot. Now try to update the Defender (at this point a new SoftwareDistribution folder will be created if you have renamed it).

How to download YouTube videos via Safari

If you’re using Safari, there’s an easy way to download YouTube videos.

Open the page with the movie and press Command-Option-A, which shows the Activity window.

If you’re also loading other sites, you’ll see a list of them: scroll until you find the YouTube page and click on the arrow to show details about what is being loaded.

You will certainly notice an element whose size is over 0.5MB (most of the time, over 5MB).

Double-click on it (even if it is still loading), and Safari will download it. When the download is over, navigate to the file in the Finder (which will probably be called get_video) and add the extension .flv to its name.

Now you can play it with any .flv supported player.

Euroset continues expanding its Luxury-line, within which it has imported the most expensive handset costing 1 mln. euros to Russia. Thus, the Russians can now buy GoldVish Piece Unique put into the Guinness Book of Records. Only three people on the planet have such a handset.
GoldVish Luxury-handsets have come to Russia. Expanding its Luxury-line Euroset has received the exclusive right to sell the entire GoldVish model range in Russia. Currently the handsets are available in Euroset three shops in Moscow. In 2008 the retailer plans to open GoldVish boutique in Moscow.
GoldVish Switzerland handsets made of 18 carat gold (of pink, yellow and white colors) and decorated with diamonds of highest quality WS1 cost from 22 to 127 thousand euros. Besides, the Russians will have the opportunity to buy the most expensive handset put into the Guinness Book of Records. GoldVish Piece Unique costs 1 mln. euro. GoldVish design has been developed by Emanuel Gueit, who has also designed a range of models for watches and jewelry.
Only three people on the planet have such a handset. Evgeny Chichvarkin, Euroset CEO, tells CNews one of GoldVish Piece Unique owners is Russian. However, rumors are circulating that all GoldVish Piece Unique owners are Russian.

Commenting on possible demand for excessively expensive phones in Russia, he says that the Russian market might be compared to China, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He says it is impossible to demonstrate GoldVish Piece Unique to the Russians, but they can easily order and acquire it in Euroset.

sQuba : The World’s First Real Diving Car

It has been 30 years since we first saw James Bond in his Lotus Esprit Submarine in “The Spy Who Loved Me” which sent our imaginations into overdrive, and now Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht has realised a long cherished dream with the creation of their latest concept named “sQuba”.

Swiss design company Rinspeed is known for its eccentric concepts, including last year’s translucent eXasis Concept and the “Splash” hydrofoil car that set a speed record crossing the English Channel.

Rinspeed is once again turning to the water for its latest concept, although this time they will be heading below the surface instead of skimming above it. Set to debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show (March 6th thru 16th, 2008), the sQuba concept is the world’s first diving car, according to the company, and can be submerged up to 10 meters below the surface.

An electric motor provides power to the rear wheels as well as two propellers and dual jet drives, and a futuristic cockpit comes with its own supply of oxygen. Like many of Rinspeed’s other unique creations, the sQuba will only remain a one-off and there are no plans for production.
